Duke’s story…

Duke had been through several homes and was previously saved from abuse. Sadly his past treatment and his  relentless aggression, stopped him from  enjoying the stable new life that he had been given. 

He came into rescue with very challenging and unpredictable behaviour,  when he was reactive and attacked, both us and the other dogs, he really meant business.

It took a long time for him to decompress and trust and realise that we were not a threat or going to hurt him.

Given lots of time, patience and understanding, Duke settled and became a permanent foster dog.

Having put so much trust in us, it would have been detrimental  for him to leave, not that we had many offers to adopt him. Duke has come a long way in the time time that  hes been with us, he is a grumpy and stubborn little dog and tries to rule the roost, life remains on his terms and he can still be unpredictable. He still doesn’t like other dogs, kids or bikes and is reactive on walks.

It’s wonderful when Duke reaches milestones and we see certain issues subside. Sadly he can’t be trusted 100% but is still learning everyday
